Tear Me Apart is a very appropriate title for this book. It tells the story of an Olympic downhill skiing hopeful who crashes and severely breaks her leg. During the surgery, it’s discovered she has leukemia and eventually needs a stem cell transplant. It continues with the search for a donor and the realization that her family life is not what it seems. The intensity of the emotions that are dealt with rises with each discovery. The meltdown of one of the characters was very well thought out. She received one piece of bad news after the other and slowly felt like she was losing everything. The psychological impact on the character seemed to be accurately written to me. I thoroughly loved it and gave it 5 stars.
The first third of the book was such a humble that I almost have up on it. There were too many characters (if you can call letters from unknown people characters) and too much jumping around in time and, as a result, too much confusion. I think the book might have been helped by focusing on Monday and her story in the beginning and bringing the rest of it a little later on. Also, I found the mother and, later, the father very unlikable. The book did get better after the first third although the last fourth for a bit tedious. So a generous 3.5 for a book I was excited to read but, in the end, pretty disappointed by its flaws.

If you like mysteries and want to be confounded by the twists and turns than this book is for you. It has more false trails than a sly fox could lay trying to get away from the hounds.We have a champion skier, perfect parents, two teens on a mental hospital for trying to commit suicide and one of them is a murderer, then last but not least we have a English professor never giving up on finding his daughter that was kidnapped when she was a few days old and finding the his wife's murderer. It's a wild ride finding out how all these people fit and who is the bad guy.You will not be sorry if you buy this book.

J.T. Ellison has written a lot of good books, but this twisty psychological/domestic/medical mystery-thriller is probably her best yet. The characters, whether likable or not, are all interesting, realistic people (plus there's a lovable dog), there are numerous secrets to be uncovered, and the conclusion is quite a shock. I did have a general idea where the story was going, but the author's excellent writing and storytelling made the book almost impossible to put down, and there were many surprising details and twists. This outstanding novel is not to be missed.
J.T."s absorbing multidimensional story riveted me. I had to read in one sitting and started at night-not smart if you know what I mean. Characters I'm now attached to and want to know more about in your next book! But one character can rot in hell or prison. The author wove suicide in, a taboo topic but in interesting ways. Thoughtful and questioning. I loaned it out. Now I have to buy again because I want to read again, not as fast this time.! Kadoos J.T., can't wait for more! Now that I found you, can't wait to read more. AZ Author Betty Webb does taboo subjects eloquently, too.
This book started off as an overly dramatic story that I almost gave up on, but it came together and gradually morphed into an engrossing book. Not very realistic in so many ways, but a great book for a long airplane ride. Don't look for realistic, believable characters or plotting, but a book to sit back and enjoy without too much thinking.
